Monogeneans are parasitic flatworms, rarely longer than about 0.5 inches. They are found often on the skin or gills of fish, where they attach using hooks or clamps at either end of their bodies. Many have several pairs of eyespots. Monogeneans have a simple digestive system consisting of a mouth with a closed gut. They are typically hermaphroditic with individuals having reproductive organs of both sexes. |
