Crepidostomum is one of the most common intestinal trematodes found in Oregon fishes. Juvenile flukes grow in the gall bladder, then migrate to the intestine where the adult flukes lay eggs which are passed with feces out into the environment. The eggs then infect the parasite's next host - in this case a mayfly, which in-turn will be eaten by a new host fish. |
